Tout Soul The Pursuit of Happiness in Rural France Tout Sweet Book 3 eBook Karen Wheeler
I read the first book and somehow missed the second before reading this one. I'm not sure how much I really like Karen, a lot of her actions just bother me a bit, but I did enjoy her first book. This one was fine, I read it mostly because I love France and I read all books about women moving to France. The wallowing in self-pity over the idiot man who cheated - after he had cheated before!! - got to be really old. And then, BAM, something I totally did not see coming happens and floored me. She still reacted oddly and obsessively, but the fact that this was based on her actual life has stuck with me. I am still just shocked at the outcome of the The Lion. So, I read the entire book, I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it, but it did really affect me in the end.Product details

Tout Soul The Pursuit of Happiness in Rural France Tout Sweet Book 3 eBook Karen Wheeler Reviews
I anxiously waited a year for Tout Soul to be released after having read and loved Tout Sweet and Tout Allure. Tout Soul was completely engaging from the first chapter and a wonderful continuatiion of the author's journey.
This book's storyline continues with the musings and experiences of Karen Wheeler in rural France and Luis (the Lion) with many unexpected bumps and bends along the road. I laughed at the charming and witty account of the author's adventures and cried along with her as she faced one of life's most difficult situations. I applaud her joie de vivre, tennacity and strength in embracing all that life offers and her growth process along the way and privileged to be able to share it all with her.
This book was the perfect start to my summer reading and look forward to her next book.
I happen to pick up Karen Wheeler's first book, Tout Sweet, off the bottom shelve in a book store. Since I love France, I thought it might be a fun read and had nothing else to read at the time. It was so much fun that I read all 3 book, Tout Sweet, Toute Allure and Tout Soul in one month.
My favorite chapter was "Cucumber Juice". It's her humorous story of a visit to a spa in Spain.
I recommend her series of books to anyone needing a short escape from everyday life. She takes you away to her village in France. You meet her friends, neighbors and her little dog, Biff.
Since most writers write only one book per year, I am sorry I have to wait a year to read her next one.
Being a person who loves France and harbors a longing to make it my address someday, I was happy to discover this series of books. I raced through the first two books, loving the ambling tale of the author's making a home in a small town in France. While some people move in and out of her stories, she has a cast of characters who are interesting and intriguing. But a funny thing happened on the way to Wheeler writing a travel memoir. At some point, her memoir moved more into a touching story of intense love, intense heartbreak and incredible emotion. Although it sounds cliche, I could not put the book down, yet did not want to finish it, either. I was completely gripped and, without giving away the ending, just HAD to know what happened. Like so many others, I am eagerly awaiting another book letting us know how she is getting on.
After reading the first installment in this series, "Tout Sweet" I promptly ordered the next two books, "Tout Allure" and this one. I could have easily sat and read both books together in one sitting. I would always have to tear myself away from each sitting. Easily my favorite read in the past few years. It isn't so much about nonstop excitement and drama although it has plenty, but more the rich entwining of the different characters that come and go through her life as it evolves that I have found so interesting. Many times I found myself laughing out loud at some of the scenarios as I could easily relate. Karen does such a good job of describing the scenes and people that it truly is like watching a movie in which I wish someone would make. I have recommended these books to many of my friends and I hope the author keeps on writing about her adventures in Rural France
The first book in this series Tout Sweet , tells about Karens dream of changing her physical and mental locality at a much needed time in her life.
Book 2 Toute Allure tells about the fun experience of becoming part of all that is new and different from anyplace you have experienced before, then our single authoress begins to settle into her new life style and experiences a couple of very bitter love periods. Now the story becomes a story that could happen anywhere, because experiences of the heart are an individual experience that happens deep within ourselves and is exclusive to the individuals involved in their love, feelings, needs, expectations, hopes and dreams for the relationship. Karen is a winner she took her painful heartbreaking circumstances and turned them around by learning what is truly important in life from beginning to end. A story we can all gain from. The series of 3 books paint the total picture of a life of change and growth in the French countryside. And proof that the life we live from our heart and soul reaches much further then where we live.
I enjoyed this book quite a bit more than I expected to. Her first book in the series "Tout Sweet" is a pleasant, though fluffy bit of writing that didn't make me care overly much about her life. The second installment "Tout Allure" is much more interesting and juicy, since it is about her tumultuous love affair with her hot-blooded Latin neighbor. As Karen says several times in each book...Who knew there was so much drama going on behind closed doors in rural France?! This third book in the series is a surprise tearjerker, completely different in tone than the other two books. Just be aware of that fact before you buy the book, in case you wanted a lighthearted read....this is not that book. I didn't realize that I had come to care about the people in Karen Wheeler's little French village until I read this book! It made me cry, and I am not a big crier. I read on Karen's website that she is writing a fourth volume that will complete the series, which is due out in Spring 2014. I will certainly be on the lookout for that book.
